 China shares are higher Wednesday with IT firms leading gainers, as investors cheered a dozen internet platform companies pledging to avoid anti-competitive behaviors, after e-Commerce giant Alibaba was fined a record $2.75-B last wk for such practices. At the midday break, the Shanghai Composite index was up 0.15% at 3,401.72, while the blue-chip CSI300 index was up 0.31%.

Japanese shares finished lower Wednesday: The Nikkei was off 0.44% to 29,620.99, while the broader TOPIX ended -0.33% to 952.18.

Australian shares climbed to a 13-month highs Wednesday, led by gains in gold stocks and tech firms, while New Zealand’s benchmark bourse hit a 2-month high after iys central bank left interest rates at a record low.

The S&P/ASX 200 settled 0.7% higher at 7,023.1, New Zealand’s S&P/NZX 50 rose 0.8% to 12,751.4
