North Korea has stolen around $630 million to $1 billion in crypto assets during 2022 alone. It has been said that they targeted networks of foreign aerospace and defence companies. North Korea has been accused of stealing all this money in order to fund nuclear and missle upgrades.

North Korea has denied all accusations made against them.

“The techniques used by cyberthreat actors have become more sophisticated, thus making tracking stolen funds more difficult. These actors continued illicitly to target victims to generate revenue and solicit information of value to the DPRK including its weapons programmes,” the UN Reported.

North Korea were even linked to a major theft estimating hundreds of millions from the Crypto game Axie Infinity. $615 million in March 2022 alone was stolen from this game's blockchain Ronin.
