The novel coronavirus that causes the respiratory condition, COVID-19, can live for up to nine days on surfaces including our very own cell phones. Millions of people use a cell phone every single day. We often press our phones to our faces allowing the bacteria, germs and virus to be transmitted onto it (!). Therefore, it is imperative to clean this gadget to avoid the virus finding its new home on it, amirite? Here is a useful and easy way to clean your phone:
Cleaning Your Phone
According to a statement on Apple’s support page, “Using a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the exterior surfaces of your iPhone,”. They further warn, “Don’t use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any openings, and don’t submerge your iPhone in any cleaning agents.”
Some websites have DIY recipes to mix alcohol and water yourself. However, if produced with an incorrect concentration, it could damage your phone. The safest bet is to use disinfectant wipes that contain 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean your phone screen.
Experts suggest that keeping your phone clean won’t matter a lot if you’re not practising hygiene in other ways.
Good hygiene includes the regular washing of your hands with soap for 20 seconds, using alcohol-based hand sanitizer at all times, not touching your face and so on.
