Japanese stocks advanced Wednesday after Wall Street staged a strong rebound as policymakers across the world cobbled together packages to counter the severe restrictions on various regular activities aiming at slowing the spread of the coronavirus.
Australian shares are set to open slightly lower on Wednesday as unnerved investors took note of the US Fed looking to shore up liquidity and blunt the blow of the coronavirus outbreak, but worries remain that the pandemic threatened a global recession.
New Zealand’s benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index advanced 2.8% in early trade.
The Philippines exempted its financial trading platforms from strict coronavirus quarantine procedures on Tuesday, paving the way for the resumption of trading at its stock, bond and foreign exchange markets this week, government officials said.
Shares in the United Arab Emirates stock exchanges will be allowed to drop a daily maximum of 5% as of Wednesday, state news agency WAM reported.
