Valentine’s Day in Miami: River Yacht Club, Michelin-Starred Chef & Gerry Kelly
How could this not be the best Valentine’s Day in Miami or anywhere! On the water in Miami with food prepared by Michelin-starred Culinary Director Phillip Ruiz and hosted by the King of Miami Gerry Kelly. Advertised as Valentine’s with a kink, I have no idea what the kink is and am left to assume that kink is Gerry Kelly, the party king of Miami.
Miami’s number 1 waterfront dining destination, River Yacht Club is a beautiful oasis of fine dining and sophisticated lounging that marries European sophistication with local zest for fun.
Ruiz’s held top position at Biltmore Hotel’s Palme d’Or, where he elevated the restaurant to the highest echelon of South Florida’s dining scene. Before that Ruiz build his professional repertoire with stints at Two-Michelin-Star Château de Divonne in Divonne-les-Bains, France, at Two-Michelin-Star Le Chat Botté at the Hôtel Beau Rivage in Geneva, Switzerland, at Le Vieux Moulin, a Two-Michelin-Star property also in Geneva as well as at St. Martin’s renowned La Samanna resort.
I have never been to a Gerry Kelly event that was not SPECTACULAR.
When Gerry Kelly arrived in South Beach in 1994, it was simply a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Already an acclaimed haute couture designer and veteran international nightclub entrepreneur with a long-time home base on the fashionable island of Ibiza, the Irish-born Kelly brought with him to America a proven artistic flair and a powerful commitment to big-time success. Now, 22 years later, he has made an indelible mark on the South Beach scene, and established himself as by far the most influential creative and marketing force.
Kelly says he has learned a valuable lesson about life. “I learned that the power of the mind is really a strong thing,” he says, “and if you believe in yourself, nothing is impossible. I now know I would never be afraid of any project ever again. This has been an amazing experience. The fear of losing and then the high inside of winning, there’s no comparison. It’s worth all the fear to do it and win.”
Nestled in downtown on the bank of Miami River, River Yacht Club is a breathtaking outdoor/indoor restaurant with amazing water views accessible by land and by sea and docking facility.
Opened six days a week, River Yacht Club features a unique Chef Residency overseen by Michelin-starred Culinary Director Phillip Ruiz. This program welcomes a rotating roster of renowned chefs, who recreate the menu seasonally.
River Yacht Club seafood-centric fare focuses heavily on ocean’s bounty and quality produce and meats like the Veal Tomahawk, Colorado Rack of Lamb.
