US President Donald Trump, “USS Ford Is Message to the World”

President Donald Trump said Saturday that our new state-of-the art aircraft carrier is “A 100,000-ton message to the world” of American military might.
President Trump spoke Saturday during the commissioning ceremony for the USS Gerald R. Ford in Norfolk, Virginia.
He said: “Wherever this vessel cuts through the horizon our allies will rest easy and our enemies will shake will fear because everyone will know that America is coming and America is coming strong.”
The USS Gerald R. Ford is the 1st member of the next generation of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and is named after the country’s 38th President.
Construction started in 2009 and was to be completed at a cost of $12.9-B.
Former defense secretaries Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney were among a host of officials attending the commissioning ceremony.
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and members of Congress from Virginia and Michigan are on hand for the shipboard ceremony.
President Ford represented Michigan in Congress. His daughter, Susan Ford Bales, is also attending. She is the ship’s sponsor.
The vessel completed sea trials in April but will go through a battery of tests and workups at Sea.
