The Japanese market is closed for a public holiday

 Hong Kong shares finished higher Tuesday, boosted by the energy and financial sectors, following global equity markets higher as strong factory output data from major economies underpinned sentiment ahead of U.S. elections.

At the close of trade, the Hang Seng index was up 512.91 pts, or 2.1%, at 24,938.44. The Hang Seng China Enterprises index rose 1.56% at 10,085.1.

Chinese shares ended higher Tuesday, led by gains in material and financial stocks, as investors bet more on a swift economic recovery from the virus chaos and upbeat sales outlook for new energy cars.

The Shanghai Composite index closed up 1.42% at 3,271.07. The blue-chip CSI300 index was up 1.2%, with its financial sector sub-index higher by 1.79%, and the material sector sub-index up 2.42%. The smaller Shenzhen index ended up 1.19% and the start-up board ChiNext Composite index was higher by 1.33%.

Tuesday, Australian shares closed 2% higher to mark their best session in a month, driven by RBA’s decision to trim interest rates and launch Q-E.

The S&P/ASX 200 index .AXJO finished 1.9% higher at 6,066.40. New Zealand’s benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index .NZ50 ended 0.5% higher at 12,130.31,
