TRADITION MEETS GLAMOUR AT SINGAPORE TURF CLUB’S FORTUNE BOWL
Singapore Turf Club welcomes the Year of the Dog with the running of the annual Fortune Bowl race on the second day of the Lunar New Year on Saturday, 17 February 2018.
Racegoers can look forward to receiving “Double Happiness” when they arrive at the racecourse; lucky red packets will be distributed to the first 1,888 racegoers entering the MRT Plaza and Grandstand Plaza, while a pair of Gods of Fortune with matching Dog mascots will be moving around the racecourse to distribute chocolate gold coins – both symbolic gestures of spreading good fortune and festive cheer for the year ahead.
For an auspicious start to the New Year, a lively dragon and lion dance performance will be staged prior to the running of the first Singapore race meeting, followed by a “Plucking the Green” (Cai Qing) ceremony and presentation of the auspicious scroll. The showcase of Chinese Zodiacs forecast by renowned Fengshui Grand Master Tan Khoon Yong, a perennial crowd favourite, will be displayed around the racecourse premises for those who wish to seek their fortunes in the Year of the Dog.
Singapore Turf Club is offering the “CNY Prosperity Package” on the same day for discerning patrons to spend an exclusive festive holiday at the races. Priced at $88 nett, the package includes admission to the Marquee, located right next to the race track with up-close and inimitable views of the races. Within the Marquee, there will be a wide array of activities to tickle their every senses; from an elegant oriental fashion show, to a ‘live’ musical performance, to a traditional Chinese handicrafts corner – all while indulging in a delectable buffet spread of food and drinks specially prepared for package holders.
All guests born in the Year of the Dog will enjoy a complimentary CNY Prosperity Package for every full paying package. Group purchases of 10 packages will be entitled to a complimentary plate of “Yu Sheng”.
