Thursday’s World Markets Outlook: Asia-Pacific

Australian shares closed 2.5% lower Thursday, snapping a 4-day winning streak, as rising concerns about a resurgence of C-19 coronavirus cases.

The S&P/ASX 200 index ended 2.5% lower at 5,817.7 in its worst session since 12 June.

New Zealand’s benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index declined 1.2% or 135.05 pts to 11,124.36.

 Japanese stocks ended at a more than one-week low on Thursday, tracking losses on Wall Street.

The benchmark Nikkei average fell 1.2% to 22,259.79, its lowest closing mark since 15 June.

The broader Topix fell 1.2% to 1,561.85 with all but 1 of the 33 sector sub-indexes on the Tokyo exchange finishing lower.
