The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) shares tumble following fatal crash in Ethiopia
Shares in aircraft manufacturer Boeing fell by more than 10 per cent during the session, after some airlines moved to ground its 737 MAX 8 planes following a fatal crash in Ethiopia.
The 737 MAX 8 was the same model of aircraft that crashed into the ocean off Indonesia in October, killing all 189 people on board.
“The grounding of the 737 MAX by China, Indonesia, and Ethiopia are near-term reputational negatives for Boeing that could impact sales, particularly if the [US Federal Aviation Administration] follows suit and also grounds the plane,” Cowen & Co analyst Cai von Rumohr wrote in a research note.
The stock closed off its lows, to finish the session down 5.3 per cent at $US400.

A big white candle occurred. This is generally considered bullish, as prices closed significantly higher than they opened. If the candle appears when prices are “low,” it may be the first sign of a bottom. If it occurs when prices are rebounding off of a support area (e.g., a moving average, trendline, or retracement level), the long white candle adds credibility to the support. Similarly, if the candle appears during a breakout above a resistance area, the long white candle adds credibility to the breakout.
During the past 10 bars, there have been 5 white candles and 5 black candles. During the past 50 bars, there have been 31 white candles and 19 black candles for a net of 12 white candles.
A falling window occurred (where the bottom of the previous shadow is above the top of the current shadow). This usually implies a continuation of a bearish trend.
