Terry Evans Expanding Tuncurry Stable
The stable has purchased 2 tried horses at recent sales and has a good cross section of 2yo’s by sires like Sizzling, Cluster and Al Maher.
New owners are joining the stable and existing owners have shown continued support. Ideally located just north of the Metropolitan racing in Sydney and in the middle of a rich provincial circuit the new additions to the stable should result in a big year for Terry Evans.
Sizzling, son of Snitzel, was a super fast PRE-CHRISTMAS two-year-old who had the class, precocity, and constitution to win five races in his juvenile year including the Group 1 BRC TJ Smith and has become a leading sire.
Al Maher one of the star 3YO’s of his generation, won the G1 Australian Guineas— a race previously won by Champion Sires Zabeel and Flying Spur.
Ilovethiscity has started his stud career in encouraging fashion, most notably producing two year old El Dorado Dreaming (Ilovethiscity x Solanas) who stormed over the top of Oohood to win the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes at Royal Randwick.
Cluster a cracking type in his own right, he is by Champion Sire and sire of sires in Fastnet Rock (137 stakes winners), and is from the Flemington stakes winner Tarcoola Diamond.
Terry Evans is a passionate man and a very successful Race Horse Trainer who has spent his life around, and working with, horses. In short, he’s a man who really knows his business…and that business is now on course at Tuncurry Race Track.
Years of accumulated wisdom combined with good old fashioned “horse sense” guided Terry to locate his business in Tuncurry, a town excellently situated in close proximity to metropolitan, provincial and country tracks.
Terry’s friends and business acquaintances describe him as a true horseman. Ten years of running JT Thoroughbreds, a well established and successful pre-training, breaking and spelling business, provided him with the opportunity to work for, and learn from, some of Sydney’s leading trainers. The expertise and experience gained from this “apprenticeship” is the foundation on which his current training career is built.
Believing emphatically in a hands-on approach, Terry guides his small, dedicated team from triumphant success to triumphant success as they win races with horses other trainers have sidelined. As Terry explains, “That’s because we treat each horse in our care as an individual, with needs that must be met with the highest standard of care”. It’s a sound philosophy.
