The US plains and MidWest is seeing freezing weather in epic proportions. It is hard to find charm in extremes of any kind, but Winter has a way of visually transforming places into amazing new landscapes.
So, in this frame we found some places on Earth that are at their best when in iced and covered with snow, and the magic that cold weather can bring.
Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
Set between the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet, this place is magical when covered in snow.
The Rocky Mountains, Western USA
The Rocky Mountains are really at a grand scale, but in the Winter when covered in snow, the views are amazing. If you are observing from your plane window or from the base of the mountains, they are magnificent to see.
Holy Hill: Hubertus, Wisconsin
This scene reminds people of Germany, beautiful.
Mt. Hood, Oreg
From gray most of the year to gleaming white in Winter
Lake Erie, Michigan
The shallowness of Lake Erie allows it to freeze over large distances. After a snow, this frozen lake is a peaceful white as far as one can see.
The harbors freeze and the entire city is covered in a blanket of white snow.
The white snow against the red rock, with greens, yellows, and the blue sky, memorable rainbow of color to see.
A true winter wonderland with scenery as beautiful as any place on Earth, and skiing that is 2nd to none there.
Have a terrific weekend.
