Sugar can come from natural sources but it is also made artificially from synthetic (human-made) components.

A 6 oz serving of unsweetened yogurt should have about 13 grams of naturally occurring sugar from milk. If the ingredients label shows more than that, you are defeating your weight-loss goals with this high-calorie junk carbohydrate.

Having a serving of yogurt for breakfast jolts your metabolism into producing insulin. This is a terrible way to start the day unless you plan to run a marathon or go to a job that is very physically demanding. If you sit most of the day, eat proteins and fats first and add healthy carbs during the day.

Yogurt manufacturers target children with sugary foods. General Mills markets yogurt pops called Go-GURT which contain twice as much sugar as a bowl of their “Lucky Charms” cereal?

Some yogurt products claim to contain probiotic microorganisms which provide health benefits when consumed. This is a deceptive promise because pasteurization kills many of the good bacteria.

Unsweetened yogurt is fine. Add honey or stevia (a natural plant sweetener) instead of any synthetic sweetener.

 

Bread: Bread made from wheat is full of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), the #1 fat-forming food ingredient. Popular because it is 20X sweeter than sugar, corn syrup is linked to obesity.

The problem is that our brains cannot recognize the chemical fructose. This confusion interferes with your ghrelin hormone production (which tells you when you are hungry) and disrupts the production of the leptin hormone which tells us when we are full.

When the appetite hormones are out of balance, people cannot know when to stop eating. This is a serious problem for people who want to lose weight because your brain keeps telling the body to eat more.

HFCS is a sweetener made from corn starch. It is a common ingredient not only in bread but in yogurt and other carbs and sweets. If you think you addicted to carbs and sweets, it is probably due to a high consumption of foods containing high fructose corn syrup.

Doctors believe HFCS is 8X more addictive than cocaine or heroin. New research indicates that over 80% of the American population may be hooked on this unhealthy sweet stuff commonly found in sodas and fruit-flavored drinks.

 

Cereal Bars: Cereal bars like Kellog’s Special K Vanilla Crisp Cereal Bar contain lots of sugar. In fact, sugar is the 1st ingredient listed on the box, meaning there is more of it in the food. Corn syrup, another form of sugar, is also found in these unhealthy snacks.

Fiber One Oats contain high levels of corn syrup, sugar, high maltose corn syrup, sugarcane fiber, and fructose.

Honey Nut Cheerios Milk n Cereal Bars proudly proclaim they contain 13 vitamins and mineral and calcium from 6 oz of milk, and they weigh people down with added sugar, brown sugar syrup, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, and fructose.

According to Dr. Lee, if you cut back or get rid of these 3 foods: sweetened yogurt, wheat breads, and cereal bars, then hormones will be able to go back to normal levels. You will know when you are hungry and when it’s time to push back from the table.

Conquering your carb addiction might be the hardest thing you do in your lifetime, but it is well worth the short-term discomfort when you consider all the health benefits you get from maintaining a proper weigth.

The odds of getting heart disease, diabetes, or other complications of obesity go down dramatically once people stop eating so much sugar.
