Singapore: STI Index (.STI) April core inflation eased to its lowest level in a year

Singapore’s April core inflation eased to its lowest level in a year, data showed on Thursday, due to a fall in cost of electricity and gas and lower food inflation.

Singapore’s core inflation rose 1.3% in April from a year earlier, easing from the previous month’s 1.4% rise and matching forecasts in a Reuters poll.

Singapore’s headline consumer price index, however, edged higher in April to 0.8% from a year ago due to higher private road transport costs. The print also matched forecasts.
