Singapore Horse Racing: Sunday Preview Dec 3
Singapore action returns Sunday with an 11 race card, the last meeting of 2017, here are our selections for the day brought to you by Knightsbridge Bloodstock Come racing in Singapore in 2018 with one of their easy syndicates.
RACE 1: CLASS 5 – 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 12:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
TURQUOISE SON (4) is in form with light weights it will be harder for him here with 59kgs but it is hard to fault his form.
PARKER (3) ran a good race last timeout with 59kg he rates the danger in the race..
LIM’S STARDOM (2) will appreciate the weaker company and should be running on, GET GOING (1) forever a bridesmaid looks set to run another reasonable race and figure in the placings.
RACE 2: INITIATION (4 YEAR OLD AND BELOW) (WEIGHT FOR AGE) (HORSES NOT WON A RACE IN 2YRS PRIOR TO NOMINATION DATE & NOT HAD > 8 STARTS IN SIN / MSIA) – 1200M COURSE D (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 13:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$65000
This is the hardest race on the card with 6 new horses and very little form on most of the others.
The Brazilian BOY WONDER (1) has been impressive in his starts in Singapore, last time out he met and overcame a bit of trouble, he should have it in him to take the prize here.
CROWN GIFT (10) is another horse that has shown it has ability and should be in the finish.
CALLIXTUS (7) out of the fairly handy mare Bahamian Star, this horse has been trailing since July, clearly they have taken their time here and having Glen Boss on board will help his chances, definite each-way claims.
ELENA OF AVALOR (8) ran well behind Chocante last time out, shocker of a draw but should be able to make up ground in the straight.
RACE 3: CLASS 4 – 1100M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 13:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$60000
BUENOS AIRES (6) raced by Chine Horse Club has not set the world on fire but he should be race ready here.
THE COSMOS (3) is the best horse in the race but last time out he had some issues in relation to an injury, a place chance but I would rather see him go around a couple more times to make sure he is 100% fit.
LADRONE (7) has one job here, jump and get to the front, the question is how much juice will he burn up getting there from his bad draw, he is the likely leader and if he is not pressed he is a horse that could steal a race like this.
LORD ASCOT (9) trained by Stephen Gray is a small horse but has shown maturity and a very nice action at a recent trial against some good quality horses, the Aussie W Pike will lift the horses chances, I would be including him in my exotics and may even have something each way on him.
RACE 4: CLASS 4 (1) – 1400M COURSE D (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 14:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$60000
SKY ROCKET (8) another Stephen Gray trained horse this time with Glen Boss on board ran a good race behind the very promising Kinsman last time out and won before that, you should get some value here so a good each way bet.
GOLD CITY (7) was not disgraced on Gold Cup day, he will enjoy the extra distance and should be thereabouts at the finish.
JACKS SECRET (11) hard to fault his Class 5 form and the rise to Class 4 is the challenge, he does however look to be in exceptional form.
MOON CHARM (12) to round out the minors.
RACE 5: CLASS 5 – 1600M COURSE D (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 14:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$35000
Pretty average bunch here with no shortage of geriatrics, we even have a 10yo in this one.
MILITARY ALLIANCE (7) another bridesmaid type but is in good form for a 7yo, given the sketchy crew he is up against I will have something each way on him and hope for the best.
SHUYING XIAOXIAO (5) likes this distance he will be fresh after a break and could well figure in the finish.
SATELLITE PRINCE (4) is another horse that likes the weak mile races.
HONGCHEN (1) is another veteran who could plod along and find himself in the minors.
RACE 6: CLASS 4 – 1600M COURSE D (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 15:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$60000
CHOCOLATS (5) one of the best bred and most expensive young horses in Singapore gets his chance to redeem his Gold Cup Day disaster, on that day he could not find a run anywhere, but good can’t blame the horse entirely for that, this time out they will not make the mistake of getting him caught up in running, the distance is not a concern, by Fastnet Rock out of a Zabeel mare he will cover the mile easily, Chocolats should end up one of the better horses in Singapore in the coming year. He is the bet of the day.
HERACLES (1) is in fine form and is the danger, a quality horse that has not let punters down lately.
TURF CHAMPION (10) look like he likes it longer and that gives him limited opportunities in Singapore, he has won over 2000m and time will tell if the focus on Mile races will pay off for connections.
STORM TROOPER (3) if the race is run fast this is the horse that will be finishing hard.
RACE 7: KRANJI STAKES A (SET WEIGHTS) – 1200M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 15:50 PRIZE MONEY: S$125000
SKYWALK (11) should win this by 2 to 3 lengths, course record set last time out, this horse is a top class performer I would make him the bet of the day but I am sure he will come out odds on.
SUPER FORTUNE (9) is on fire lately, he makes the move to the Polytrack but his trials on the surface look fine.
NOVA SWISS (1) and ANONYMOUS (12) for the exotics.
RACE 8: KRANJI STAKES C (SET WEIGHTS) – 2000M COURSE D (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 16:20 PRIZE MONEY: S$80000
A rare but welcome staying race.
SHOQEET (8) the trainer Saimee Jumaat likes him, I like him every one likes him, great win over 1800 last time out.
DARSHINI (1) almost placed in a Group 3 and narrowly missed a start in the Gold Cup he is an honest type and will there at the finish.
EL DON (13) Stephen Gray can train a stayer and this horse looks to be on the improve.
KHUDAWAND (110 plugs away but is a stayer has a place hope.
RACE 9: COLONIAL CHIEF STAKES (SG3)(3 YEAR OLD AND UPWARDS) (CONDITION WEIGHT) (RIDER ALLOWANCES NOT PERMITTED) – 1700M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 16:55 PRIZE MONEY: S$175000
LIM’S ARCHER (11) has done everything asked of him and is going for a hatrick here, it is a big jump for the horse to Group 3 level but he is covering the ground nicely and is a real each way chance.
MIGHTY KENNY (5) put in a solid effort with no luck last time out in the Gold Cup, will be flashing home at the finish, he will likely start a short favourite in this one.
NOVA STRIKE (7) is up to the company and will be in contention in the straight.
MAGSTOCK (10) is another Group quality horse and has claims here.
RACE 10: CLASS 3 – 1000M (POLYTRACK) TIME: 17:30 PRIZE MONEY: S$80000
TANNHAUSER (3) probably can’t be beaten here but probably can’t be backed either, I expect him to be very short.
LIM’S RACER (12) has recorded some good times lately, this is a stylish race mare that is the only real danger to TAHHHAUSER, if I can get 8 to 1 or better I might back her each way.
SIAM SAPPHIRE (9) is a good honest race horse, not drawn well but should make his presence felt.
DARC BOUNTY (1) to round out the exotics.
The Lucky Last RACE 11: CLASS 4 (2) – 1400M COURSE D (SC) (TURF TRACK) TIME: 18:00 PRIZE MONEY: S$60000
KING LOUIS (6) connections have a pretty high opinion of this one and he did not disappoint first time out in Singapore, he should win this with daylight second.
GOLD CROWN (2) is a tough honest horse who will give all he has once again, he will lead the rest of them home.
O’WHAT A FEELING (5) is going to like the distance, he is a horse that has a great turn of foot.
BAFFERT (7) impeccably bred and a horse for the future.
Merry Christmas Singapore Punters!!!
If you don’t manage to back a winner here is a little horse humor to cheer things up.
A young jockey and his stable lass girlfriend make the decision to get married. Everything is planned and the couple intend to honeymoon in Italy for a week. The marriage goes without a hitch and the couple set off on their honeymoon. While checking in the lady behind the desk asks ‘We have two suites available for you, would you like the bridal?’ ‘No thanks says the jockey I’ll just hold her ears till she gets the hang of it!’
