Shanghai: SSE Composite Index (.SSEC) shares rally
Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the 5G and liquor industries leading the bullish trend.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.69 percent to close at 2,996.79 points while the Shenzhen Component Index closed at 9,239.48 points, up 1.28 percent.
The combined turnover in the two indices stood at 475.8 billion yuan (about 69.18 billion U.S. dollars), rising from 391.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Most stocks rose, with gainers outnumbering losers by 864 to 473 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,284 to 717 in Shenzhen.
Stocks of 5G and liquor were among the bellwethers. Montnets Rongxin Technology Group Co.,Ltd., a company specialized in wireless technology and electricity-related equipment, soared by the daily limit of 10 percent to end at 15.46 yuan per share. Shares of Kweichow Moutai, China’s leading liquor brand, surged to a historic high of 1,001 yuan in the morning session and closed at 996.35 yuan per share.
