ABC’s, a unit of Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) reboot of “Roseanne” was one of the most expensive programs for advertisers last season.
Had the show continued into the next cycle, it likely would have grown more costly for ABC, the network airing it.
ABC canceled the popular comedy “Roseanne” Tuesday after star Roseanne Barr compared a former Hussein Obama Administration official to an ape in a Tweet.
Roseanne Barr, 65 anni, apologized “for making a bad joke” about Ms. Jarrett and ankled the show to Netflix.
“Roseanne” was ABC’s biggest hit of the 2017-2018 season. The show drew an average of 18.7-M viewers, 2nd only to CBS (NYSE:CBS) sitcom “The Big Bang Theory,” according to Nielsen data through 20 May.
The great appeal of the show was to brands targeting middle America, we expect the cancellation “to hurt ABC, but it will not be a major hit.
Roseanne is now out of her deal with ABC and headed to Netflix, the world’s #1 entertainment company by market cap.
Tuesday, Disney’s stock price fell 2.48, or 2.4%, to close at 99.72.
