Robert Mueller Being De-Fanged
Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference has lost 1 of the FBI’s leading investigators.
Peter Strzok, a bureau veteran who spent most of his career working on counterintelligence cases, was brought onto the case in mid-July.
He has now been assigned to the FBI’s human resources division.
Last year, he helped lead the investigation into former secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s private e-Mail server, even taking part in her interview by the bureau.
It was reported last week Mr. Mueller wants to speak with White House officials as part of his investigation, and it was recently revealed the FBI conducted an early morning raid last month of President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.
A spokesperson for Mr. Mueller’s office declined to comment on Mr. Strzok’s departure.
