The world’s premier international jockeys’ competition, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, returns to Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 11th August 2018. An evening concert for racegoers featuring Rita Ora, Example & DJ Wire, Soul II Soul and DJ Scott Mills will follow the action-packed day of Flat team racing.
Now in its 18th year, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup is one of Ascot’s most loved race meetings. Racegoers turn out in their tens of thousands to pledge their support to one of four teams in the UK’s only team-format raceday. The teams are made up of top international jockeys seeking victory by collectively acquiring the highest number of points across the six races throughout the day. The four teams are Great Britain & Ireland, Europe, the Rest of the World and The Girls.
Away from the track, racing will be followed by an evening concert and fairground rides. Ahead of the concert in August, Rita Ora said: “I’m really looking forward to performing at Ascot Racecourse this summer. After a day of racing, I’m sure everyone will be ready for a good open-air party!”
Example & DJ Wire, added: “We are excited to be playing at Ascot for the first time this summer alongside Rita Ora and Soul II Soul. We can’t wait to get the crowd going!”
DJ Scott Mills who will host the concert and close it with an exclusive set, said: “I can’t wait to be back at Ascot after an epic event in 2017. It’s a great day out for groups of friends and I’ll be taking the sunny vibes well into the evening’s celebrations.”
Classic 80s group Soul II Soul, added: “Nearly 30 years after our first single Keep on Movin was first released, we can’t wait to be on stage at Ascot playing for nearly 30,000 people this summer.”
Racegoers in the King Edward VII Enclosure and the Winning Post Enclosure, located at the west end of the Grandstand’s ground floor, will have a short priority access period to the concert allowing them to secure their preferred spot following the racing.
There will be complimentary fairground rides on the Bandstand Lawns, as well as Champagne and cocktail bars and a wide range of restaurants to enjoy before the music kicks off.
Queen Anne Enclosure tickets start from £30 in advance. Winning Post Enclosure and King Edward VII Enclosure tickets start from £49 and £69 in advance respectively. Fine dining is also available from £206+VAT.
