The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved President Donald Trump’s choice for Secretary of State.

Sen. Bob Corker, the committee’s Republican Chairman, says he has “no doubt” Tillerson is well-qualified, citing his leadership of the energy giant.
Mr. Tillerson’s nomination received an important boost when Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) decided to support him.
SEnator Rubio said that despite serious reservations about Mr. Tillerson, particularly over his views on Russia, he believed a President is entitled to significant deference in assembling his Cabinet.

Senator Rubio’s support assured that the nominee will move through the committee and win full Senate confirmation.
