President Trump to Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn (ret.), “Stay Strong”
President Donald Trump told former national security adviser Lt. General Michael Flynn to “stay strong” as federal investigators look into his foreign ties.
“I just got a message from the president to stay strong,” the retired US Army Lt. General told a group of friends and supporters at a restaurant in Virginia on 25 April, according to unnamed sources close to General Flynn.
Earlier that day, the Chairman and ranking member of the House Oversight Committee had accused General Flynn of breaching a federal law by failing to disclose foreign income from Russia and Turkey.
“Personally I see no evidence or no data to support the notion that General Flynn complied with the law,” Chairman Jason Chaffetz, (R-UT), told reporters, according to reports in the press.
The President has been accused in the leftist press as having asked the recently sacked FBI Director James Comey to end the investigation shortly before showing him the door.
The White House denied this claim in a statement.
“While the president has repeatedly expressed his view that General Flynn is a decent man who served and protected our country, the president has never asked Mr. Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn,” the White House said,
