President Trump, “I do not need Chuck Schumer’s advise on North Korea”
- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says, President Trump is fully prepared for the meeting.
Friday, US President Donald Trump hammered Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) through a Tweet, saying his administration doesn’t “need his advice” when it comes to negotiating with North Korea.
The President’s attack comes after Senator Schumer warned through a Tweet of his own Thursday afternoon that President Trump should not take the negotiations lightly.
“With ICBMs and nuclear warheads in the hands of North Korea, the situation is far too dangerous for seat of the pants negotiating,” Schumer posted, while retweeting a quote from a Reuters article that quoted President Trump as saying about the upcoming summit that he does not “think I have to prepare very much.”
President Trump made his comments before starting a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, where they discussed issues about Tuesday’s Singapore Summit with NKorea’s Chairman Kim
“I think I’ve been prepared for this Summit for a long time, as has the other side,” President Trump said. “I think they’ve been preparing for a long time also. So, this isn’t a question of preparation; it’s a question of whether or not people want it to happen.”
