Omar Benson Miller and Dwayne Johnson Return in Ballers July 17

Omar Benson Miller and The Rock return July 17 for Season 2 of Ballers.

Looking at the lives of former and current football players, the show follows former superstar Spencer Strasmore as he gets his life on track in retirement while mentoring other current and former players through the daily grind of the business of football. Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, Jazmyn Simon, and Arielle Kebbel also star. Created and executive produced by Steve Levinson; executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, Peter Berg, Dany Garcia, Julian Farino, Evan Reilly and Rob Weiss.

“Ballers” was one of last year’s TV success stories, finishing its first season as HBO’s most-watched half-hour show in six years.

In Season 2, Spencer (Dwayne Johnson) and his troublesome business partner Joe Krutel (Rob Corddry) are hard at it in sports management trying to build their own brand and reputation. The shortcut to success is Andre Allen (Andy Garcia), the biggest fish in the pond. It’s a bold move to try to snatch him, but potentially a very stupid one.

Meanwhile, “Ballers” continues to follow the lives of various football players, Ricky Jerret, played by John David Washington (Denzel Washington’s son). Omar Benson Miller as Charles Greane delivers some of the shows comedy highlights.
