China Horse Club, Head of Plains Partners LLC, SF Racing LLC et al’s American Anthem surged to the front at the head of the stretch of Belmont’s $500,000 Woody Stephens Stakes (G2), opened a big lead in mid-stretch and coasted home to a 3-1/4 length victory over fellow OBS graduate Giuseppe the Great (March ’16). It’s the second straight graded stakes win for the 3-year-old colt by Bodemeister, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show before he was purchased for $435,000 out of the Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co. consignment at the 2016 OBS March Sale. Trained by Bob Baffert, he’s now 6-3-1-0 and has earned $389,545 to date.
Loooch Racing Stables, Inc., Glenn K. Ellis and Imaginary Stables’ War Story is the newest OBS millionaire after stalking the leaders in the early going of Belmont’s $400,000 Brooklyn Invitational Stakes (G2), taking command inside the eighth pole and drawing away to 2-1/2 length victory. It’s the first graded stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Northern Afleet, trained by Jorge Navarro, now 21-5-3-3 with $1,154,305 in earnings. Consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, to the 2014 OBS March Sale, he worked an eighth in :10 4/5 at the Under Tack Show.
Shaqab Racing, WinStar Farm LLC and China Horse Club’s OBS Championship Stakes winner Master Plan rallied from off the pace to catch fellow OBS graduate Adonis Creed (April ’16) in the stretch of Saturday’s $50,125 Stanton Stakes at Delaware Park and beat him by a length and a quarter. Super Dude (March ’16) checked in third to complete an OBS sweep of the race. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old graded stakes placed colt by Twirling Candy, trained by Todd Pletcher, now 7-3-1-1 with earnings of $333,490. He was purchased for $850,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2016 March Sale after working an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show.

Thomas Van Meter II and Scott Dilworth’s Tower of Texas grabbed his second graded stakes win in the $196,750 Connaught Cup Stakes (G2) at Woodbine on Saturday, rallying to catch fellow OBS graduate Commute (August ’13) in the final stride and score by a nose. Idle since October, the 6-year-old gelding by Street Sense, trained by Roger Attfield, is now 21-5-8-3 and has earned $703,956. Ballybritt Stable LLC’s Dynatail set the pace in Penn National’s $200,000 Penn Oaks on Saturday, surrendered the lead briefly in mid-stretch, then came again and eased away late to win by three quarters of a length. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Hightail, winner of the OBS Championship Stakes in January. Now 10-4-1-2 for trainer Michael Dini, she has earned $225,840 to date. Lady Sheila Stable’s Matt King Coal took the lead at the start of Saturday’s $200,000 Mountainview Stakes at Penn National and never looked back en route to a 3-3/4 length victory, running the mile and an eighth in a track record 1:48 4/5. Fellow OBS graduate Discreet Lover (August ’14) checked in third. It’s the second stakes win for the two-time OBS graduate, sold by Abbie Road Farm (Lisa Mc Greevy), Agent, at the 2014 August Selected Yearling Sale before being purchased for $250,000 out of the Eisaman Equine consignment at the 2015 April Sale after working an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show. Four Horsemen Racing Stable, Inc. and Lady Lindsay Racing Stables’ Sweetontheladies moved on the turn to challenge for the lead in Sunday’s $50,000 Crystal River Handicap at Gulfstream, took charge after turning for home and drew off late to win by a length and a quarter. It’s the second stakes score for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Twirling Candy, consigned to the 2016 OBS April Sale by Old South Farm LLC, Agent, where he breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 before he was purchased for $25,000. Farfellow Farm Ltd.’s Concealedwithakiss took command of Friday’s $50,000 Ana T. Handicap at Gulfstream on the turn, opened a big lead in the lane and coasted to a length and a half victory. It’s the second stakes win for the 5-year-old mare by Political Force, sold for $22,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2014 OBS June Sale after she breezed and eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Keith Plaisance’s Pacific Pink rallied wide on the turn in Friday night’s $75,000 Spotted Horse Stakes at Evangeline Downs, took the lead after straightening away in the stretch and scored by 2-3/4 lengths, with fellow OBS graduate Vieja Luna (April ’15) settling for third. That’s five stakes wins for the 5-year-old daughter of Private Vow, trained by Edward J, Johnston, leaving her with a 20-8-4-6 career record and $421,620 in earnings.
