NBA’s Golden State Warriors 1st to Politicize WH Visit

The NBA champion Golden State Warriors were the 1st to politicize a White House visit that erupted into a sports world firestorm.

Charles Barkley says Warriors setting a bad president.

Marc Short, White House director of legislative affairs, said President Trump “is standing with the vast majority of people who think our Flag should be respected.”

President Trump rescinded a White House invitation to Warriors star Stephen Curry after he indicated he would not attend with teammates.

The Warriors rejected the White House offer after Mr. Curry was dis-invited.

“Stephen Curry is an amazing story,” Mr. Short said. “He is an icon for a lot of young children. My middle schooler idolizes him,” he said noting Mr. Curry was “a great guy that was overlooked.”

“He is now perhaps the best basketball player in the NBA,” Mr. Short contended. “What is unfortunate is they politicized a visit to the White House. It’s not necessary to make this into a political argument. He is trying to invite them to acknowledge their terrific season and Stephen Curry is amazing.

“Why they chose to politicize it is unfortunate,” he said, adding, They were the 1st to come out and politicize…”

“If they do not want to go to the White House, our President says ‘do not come.’”

Championship sports teams visiting the President at the White House goes back to the days of Andrew Johnson.

Saturday, Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said the NBA champion Golden State Warriors were welcome to visit the nation’s capital despite President Donald Trump uninviting star player Stephen Curry to the White House.

Have a terrific week.
