NASA’s Newest Mars Rover Pays Homage to Healthcare Teams Fighting C-19 Coronavirus

The next NASA Mars rover will honor healthcare workers on the front lines of the C-19 coronavirus chaos around the world.

With next month’s launch, the space agency revealed a commemorative plate attached to the rover, named Perseverance.

The rover team calls it the C-19 Perseverance plate.

The black and white aluminum plate, 3-by-5 ins shows planet Earth atop a staff entwined with a serpent, a symbol of the medical community. The path of the spacecraft also is shown, with its origin from Cape Canaveral.

Perseverance, has taken on added meaning, according to NASA officials.

It is hard enough preparing a spacecraft for Mars, but doing it in the middle of the Medical Malpractice chaos surely made it harder as many were forced to Others work from home.

NASA is pressing ahead with its 20 July launch. This Mission: seek signs of past microbial life on Mars and collect rock and soil samples for eventual return to Earth is considered essential by the space agency.

Perseverance is 1 of 3 upcoming Missions to Mars. The United Arab Emirates and China also are preparing spacecraft for launch to the Red Planet by mid-August.
