Mueller Will Not Be Allowed to Interview President Trump
Wednesday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, now serving on President Donald Trump’s legal team, he likes and respects special counsel Robert Mueller, but he remains cautious about where the Russia investigation is going.
“He’s a patriot, a good man, served his country, did a good job with the FBI.
“I don’t think he would be affected by malice or prejudice. However, I don’t have an explanation for the people that he hired, not all of them. I’ve dealt with them very briefly, I think they are very professional.
“I have an open mind about Bob, I don’t about former FBI director James Comey. I know Comey much better, I have the indignity of having hired him for his 1st big job, and I’m embarrassed that I hired him.”
Mayor Giuliani said that he is working with President Trump’s other lawyers to negotiate a possible interview with Mr. Mueller. He said he would not allow the interview to last longer than 2.5 hrs, which Mayor Giuliani noted was the length of time former President Bill Clinton was interviewed for the civil suit connected to his extramarital affairs.
“Right now, the odds are he would not be interviewed,” he said.
Mayor Giuliani conveyed his concern Mr. Mueller’s team seems to be leaning toward believing James Comey and not President Trump.
When asked whether Trump could provide written answers to questions in lieu of an in-person interview, Mayor Giuliani said Mr. Mueller’s team shot down the idea.
“They said no to that,” he said.
Mayor Giuliani declared there was no collusion between The Trump Campaign and Russia, an allegation that jump-started a Department of Justice investigation in Y 2016.
Last Spring, after James Comey leaked memos that detailed his interactions with President Trump, then Mr. Mueller was appointed as an outside special counsel to investigate collusion claims.
“There’s been too much government misconduct,” Mayor Giuliani said. “The crimes now have all been committed by the government and their agents. The lies by Comey. It’s terrible.”
Mayor Giuliani, made news when he addressed the Stormy Daniels saga.
Ms. Daniels is a XXXX porn star who claimed to have had an affair with Donald Trump 10 years ago. Days before the Y 2016 election, Donald Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen paid her $130,000 and had her sign a NDA (nondisclosure agreement) to keep her quiet about her claims.
The details of the payment have come into question.
Mayor Giuliani said President Trump repaid Mr. Cohen, which contradicted earlier reporting on the matter. However, he clarified the statement by saying President Trump repaid Mr. Cohen via the monthly retainer agreement he had with the Manhattan lawyer because Mr. Cohen was not performing any legal work for Trump at the time.
“That’s how he was repaying it,” Mayor Giuliani said.
