The Million-Dollar Blue Diamond on Auction in Beverly Hills

Blue diamonds are one of the hottest gems in the auction market, with the previous year’s world record smashing gems fetching millions of dollars at the hammer.

Of all the diamonds auctioned in Y 2016, the 2 Toppers were blue diamonds. The unusual cut, 14.62 carat Oppenheimer Blue smashed pre-sale estimates by more than 20%, hammered at $57.5-M.

This year, there is a stunning, 3.23-carat natural fancy blue diamond, set on a platinum ring.

According to the Gemological Institute of America, the gem comes with a SI2 rating, which means it has very slight inclusions that can be observable to the naked eye after close inspection. Flanked by 2 round white diamonds, the gorgeous gem will make one of the highlights at the upcoming Heritage’s Beverly Hills Fine Jewelry auction on 25 September.
