Make the Most of the Keeneland Fall Stars Weekend

Four Fall Stars Weekend stakes live on NBC Sports; all races carried live on TVG, Keeneland.com and Keeneland Race Day App

No matter your location, Keeneland fans can tune into the Fall Meet racing action via a number of broadcast, radio and online platforms, including live streaming of races on Keeneland.com and the Keeneland Race Day App; daily live, on-site coverage on TVG; and NBC Sports Network’s live national broadcast of four Fall Stars Weekend stakes.

Keeneland’s 17-day Fall Meet opens Friday and runs through Saturday, Oct. 28, with racing on Wednesdays through Sundays. Post time for the first race each day is 1:05 p.m. ET.

NBC, TVG Live Racing Coverage

Throughout the season, TVG will provide extensive coverage of every Keeneland race beginning at 1 p.m. daily.

NBC Sports Group will cover four of Keeneland’s Breeders’ Cup Challenge races on opening weekend of the Fall Meet as part of its “Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re In, presented by Lane’s End Farm and America’s Best Racing.”

On Saturday, Oct. 7, from 5-6 p.m., the $1 million Shadwell Turf Mile (G1) and $500,000 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) will air on NBC along with the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) at Belmont Park.

On Sunday, Oct. 8, NBC Sports Network will broadcast the $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster (G1) and $250,000 Dixiana Bourbon (G3) from 5-6 p.m.

Catch Race Replays

Replays of Keeneland races are available at Keeneland.com/racing/race-replay and on the Keeneland Race Day App. Fans also can watch the day’s card on “Today at Keeneland,” the nightly race recap show in Lexington on The CW Lexington at 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, and on TVG the following day. Local, National Radio Coverage 

Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization, will provide live coverage of Keeneland Wednesdays through Fridays from 3-6 p.m. as well as live coverage of these stakes during the Fall Meet:

·       Oct. 6 (4:30-5:30 p.m.) – Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (G2) and Darley Alcibiades (G1)

·       Oct. 7 (4-6 p.m.) – Thoroughbred Club of America (G2; replay), First Lady (G1), Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and Shadwell Turf Mile (G1)

·       Oct. 8 (5-6 p.m.) – Dixiana Bourbon (G3) and Juddmonte Spinster (G1)

·       Oct. 11 (4-4:30 p.m.) – JPMorgan Chase Jessamine (G3)

·       Oct. 14 (4:30-5:30 p.m.) – Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Presented by Lane’s End (G1)

·       Oct. 21 (4:30-5:30 p.m.) – Lexus Raven Run (G2).

Another HRRN program, “Equine Forum,” airs every Saturday from 8-10 a.m.

“Horse Tales with Ercel Ellis” will air Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 8-10 a.m. on Rewind 105.5 FM in Lexington and be streamed live on iHeartRadio and Rewind1055.com.

Keeneland Magazine on TV

“Keeneland Magazine on TV,” which can be seen Sunday at 8 p.m. on The CW Lexington, is a 30-minute program that chronicles stories about Central Kentucky life and culture from the print edition of Keeneland magazine. This fall’s stories feature:

·       “Commitment to Quality.” Juddmonte Farms produces exceptional racehorses with its blue-chip breeding stock and supports Keeneland with strategic purchases and race sponsorship.

·       “Combining Craft and Community.” There’s more than just beer on the Brewgrass Trail as increasingly popular craft breweries attest.

·       “Making a Difference: Legacy of Care.” Lexington Shriners Medical Center, in a new state-of-the-art facility, remains committed to providing the best orthopedic care for children.

·       “Taking It to the Streets.” Colorful murals by local and international artists spruce up once-empty walls throughout Lexington, intriguing residents and visitors alike.

The Keeneland Shop’s Milliners Corner presents Christine A. Moore Millinery adjacent to the Walking Ring from 11 a.m. to the 30 minutes after final post.

Tailgating on The Hill. Keeneland’s popular tailgate lot, located adjacent to the Keene Barn & Entertainment Center, features local food trucks, a jumbo television screen, wireless wagering and wagering terminals, race-day programs, The Keeneland Shop kiosk and free shuttles to the track. BETologists will be available to answer fans’ handicapping questions.

Friday Pick 4 Presented by TVG. A $200,000-guaranteed pool will be offered on the final four races of the day, including the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (G2) and Darley Alcibiades (G1).

Saturday, Oct. 7 – Fall Stars Weekend

Sunrise Trackside. Keeneland shares a special side of Thoroughbred racing that is worth getting up early to enjoy. Sponsored by LEX18, Sunrise Trackside is a free, family-friendly event with activities for all ages: Breakfast With the Works features breakfast for purchase and trackside commentary (7-8:30 a.m.) while Thoroughbreds train on the main track; children’s activities in the Kids Club Corner (7-9 a.m.); Keeneland tours (7:30-10 a.m.); Paddock demonstration with ponies from the Kentucky Horse Park (9 a.m.); trackside handicapping seminar with Paddock Host Katie Gensler (11 a.m.); and Q&A session with jockey Javier Castellano in the Paddock (12:05 p.m.).
