By Group I winning sprinter and champion European sire Invincible Spirit (IRE), the sire of more than 60 stakes-winners including Group I winners Moonlight Cloud, Yosei, Hooray, Fleeting Spirit, Mayson, Rosdhu Queen and Lawman, who was among the leading second season sires in Europe in 2012 leaving Group I winners Most Improved and Law Enforcement.
From Cannarelle, a daughter of Golden Slipper winner and leading broodmare sire Canny Lad. From a tough and fast Australian female family featuring stakes-winners Mamzelle Pedrille, O’Lonhro, Madame Pedrille and M’Lady Pedrille.
A colt by leading sire I Am Invincible topped a record breaking Day Five of selling at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on Sunday.Consigned by Sutton’s Mane Lodge as Lot 891, the colt from Yields of Gold sold to Ontrack Thoroughbreds and Toby Edmonds for a day high price of $260,000.The colt is the fifth foal for a four time winning High Yield mare who has already produced three winners from three to race.
Ontrack Thoroughbreds’ Grant Morgan said he was delighted to snare the colt and hoped he could continue the great run connections have had with the progeny of Yarraman Park’s I Am Invincible.
“The colt is a three quarter brother to I Am Snippety who unfortunately broke down when going to win a Group Two,” Morgan pointed out.
“This is the first time the mare (Yields of Gold) has been to I Am Invincible and he is a stallion who is now commanding better prices.”
“I Am Invincible is a very dominant stallion who upgrades his mares. We’ve had good experience with the stallion with Brazen Beau and this colt’s pedigree is not dissimilar to his at the same stage.”
“The colt will go to Toby Edmonds. The decision had already been made before Saturday that we’d support Toby’s stable and it’s great to support a local trainer who also has had great success with the sire.”
“The horse will be raced by some existing clients and the opportunity is also there for a slice or two for new clients,” Morgan added.
During the day over $10 million was given for 160 lots sold at a record average price of $63,761.
“The depth and diversity of the market continued through to Book Two,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.
“There was a healthy gain in average while the turnover was down on the back of less numbers.”
“The first five days of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale have been a tremendous success for vendors, buyers and Magic Millions alike,” Cox added.
“Everyone played their part in what was a glorious carnival for Magic Millions and the Australian bloodstock industry.”
“I must pay particular credit to the Magic Millions staff and contractors in delivering an experience for which we have become renowned.”
