Kentucky Yearling Sale Gradutates Go Onto Wins In G1


Siblings to graded stakes winners Valid Point, Got Stormy and Café Americano cataloged for Keeneland September Sale

Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduates Bricks and MortarValid Point and Got Stormy scored impressive Grade 1 wins to headline weekend racing.

Bricks and Mortar dominated the Arlington Million (G1) to earn an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita. It was the fifth consecutive and fourth Grade 1 win this year for the son of Giant’s Causeway. 

On the same card, Valid Point won the Secretariat (G1) in his stakes debut to remain undefeated in three career starts. For his win, Keeneland will pay a $10,000 September Sale Seller Bonus to Westwind Farm, the colt’s owner at the time of sale.

At Saratoga, Got Stormy set a course record in winning the Fourstardave (G1), a “Win and You’re In” event for the TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1). She is the first female to win the handicap. 

Keeneland will offer half-siblings to Valid Point and Got Stormy at its 2019 September Yearling Sale. Bettersworth Westwind Farms has consigned a half-sister by Orb to Valid Point (Hip 1187). Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm, agent, will offer a half-brother by Super Saver to Got Stormy (Hip 1399).

Café Americano won the Pucker Up (G3) at Arlington to secure a $5,000 September Sale Seller Bonus for Blue Heaven Farm. St. George Sales, agent, will consign a half-sister to Café Americano as Hip 54 at the September Sale.

At Del Mar, Keeneland sales graduates swept the top three spots in the Best Pal (G2), led by Collusion Illusion. The colt, who won the Best Pal in only his second career start, earned a $7,500 September Sale Seller Bonus for Double Diamond Farm.
