Justice Kavanaugh Emerged ‘Untainted’
Our new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh should not be seen as “tainted” because he withstood multiple FBI investigations and hour of rigorous Senate Judiciary Committee hearings, President Donald Trump’s counselor Kellyanne Conway said Sunday.
In a TV interview Ms. Conway added that Justice Kavanaugh’s emotional response to the sexual assault allegation of Christine Blasey Ford pales in comparison with the “hysteria” of Senate Democrats and the protesters that showed up on Capital Hill over the past 2.5 weeks.
“Justice Kavanaugh should not be seen as tainted,” Ms. Conway insisted. “He should be seen as somebody that went through seven FBI investigations, had answered 1,200 written questions and produced a million pages of documents, submitted himself to 35 hours to sworn testimony to the Senate including denying the allegations put before him. “
Ms. Conway also fiercely defended Justice Kavanaugh’s response to Ms. Ford’s allegation.
“Who really disrespected this woman and made her a household name? That would be the Democrats,” she said.
“I don’t think what Judge Kavanaugh said under oath in that testimony for 35 hours all told comes anywhere near the hysteria and the hashtags and the spitting and the chasing people out of restaurants and down Senate halls,” she added. “Nothing he said or did comes close to approximating that type of conduct. I am glad the cameras were on.”
Ms. Conway conceded, “This has been a low point for many people whose job it was to advice the President on nominations.”
“They have wanted to see Brett Kavanaugh as a gang rapist,” she charged. “Many of us saw the political character assassination.
Civil liberties legal expert Alan Dershowitz warns against “a revenge inquisition” into Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
With Justice Kavanaugh on the bench, Professor Dershowitz predicted, “we can expect conservative rulings coupled with excellent judicial demeanor.”
