Judge Kavanaugh’s Accuser’s Lawyers Rejects Offers to Testify as ‘Unfair’
Ms. Lisa Banks, the #metoo Democrat activist lawyer for the woman who accuses Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault said Senate Republicans are acting unfairly by moving ahead with a hearing Monday, 24 September without investigating the matter further, as the Dems political charade is unraveling.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is staying with his plan to hold the hearing and gave accuser Christine Blasey Ford until Friday morning to submit written testimony. He has refused to expand the witness list beyond Judge Kavanaugh and herself, or to ask for an FBI investigation of her dubious claims.
“The committee’s stated plan to move forward with a hearing that has only 2 witnesses the accuser and the accused is not a fair or good faith investigation,” Ms. Banks said in a statement. ‘There are multiple witnesses whose names have appeared publicly and should be included in any proceeding. The rush to a hearing is unnecessary and contrary to the committee discovering the truth.” Thus signalling that Ms. Ford is unwilling to testify under oath in front of the Senate Judiciary committee about the long all alleged incident.
Senator Grassley sent a letter strong to committee Democrats Wednesday again rejecting their calls to delay the hearing or seek an FBI investigation.
“There has been delay and obstruction of this process at every turn and with every argument available,” he wrote. “Therefore, I will view any additional complaints about the process very skeptically.”
Senator Grassley also asked the Judiciary Committee’s top Democrat, Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), to give him an unredacted copy of the 30 July letter in which Ms. Ford, a northern California ultra-progressive anti-Trump college professor, originally made the allegation. It was not immediately clear what information Senator Grassley is seeking.
The version that was made public redacts the identity of the other person Ms. Ford says was in the room during the alleged attack, who has since been publicly identified. Also redacted was some information about Ms. Ford.
Late Tuesday, Lisa Banks and lawyer Democrat activist lawyer Debra Katz said Ms. Ford wants the FBI to investigate her claims before she appears at a Senate hearing.
Senator Grassley, wrote to Ms. Ford’s lawyers Wednesday that it it up to the Senate to investigate, not the FBI, and that the invitation for Ms. Ford to testify Monday stands open.
Senator Grassley did not say whether the hearing will be held Monday with only Judge Kavanaugh if Ms. Ford decides not to testify, or whether the panel would vote on Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court without hearing her testimony.
Note: Senator Grassley and the Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans have gone out of their way to make the process as painless as possible for Ms Ford and they have been blown off at every turn by her lawyers.
