Gold 1 OZ (XAU=X) prices hold above $1,500 an ounce following stronger than expected existing home sales
U.S. economic data continue to have little impact on gold, as prices hold above $1,500 an ounce following stronger than expected existing home sales for August, according to the latest report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
Existing home sales increased 1.3% last month to a seasonally adjusted and annualized rate of 5.49 million units, compared to July’s annualized rate of 5.42 million homes, the association said on Monday. Economists were expecting to see a sales rate of 5.39 million homes.
Home sales are still up 2.6% from last year, the association said.
The economic data is having little impact on gold prices as critical support above $1,500 continues to hold. December gold futures last traded at $1,509.20 an ounce, down 0.44% on the day.
