Technically, August gold futures prices closed nearer the session low. The bulls still have the firm overall near-term technical advantage and are keeping in place a seven-week-old uptrend in place on the daily bar chart. Gold bulls’ next upside near-term price breakout objective is to produce a close above solid technical resistance at the June high of $1,442.90.
Bears’ next near-term downside price breakout objective is pushing prices below solid technical support at the July low of $1,384.70. First resistance is seen at this week’s high of $1,421.60 and then at last week’s high of $1,429.40. First support is seen at today’s low of $1,403.70 and then at $1,400.00.
