General Electric on Monday announced that Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt will be stepping down, a management shake-up that many people saw coming.

John Flannery, current president and CEO of GE Healthcare, has been named CEO.

Immelt will remain chairman of the board through his retirement from the company on Dec. 31, 2017.
