Ferrari’s (NYSE:RACE) New Sport Speciale 488 Allocation is Tight
When it comes to Special Editions such as the upcoming 488 Sport Speciale Series getting on the ‘List’ is a big achievement.
The arrival of the Sport Speciale 488 is scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show in March.
There have been some spied pics and now there is a leak about the criteria a Ferrari clienti has to meet in order to be offered the SS 488 that some have dubbed an unlikey GTO
The leak, which comes from the same private presentation that has delivered the photos, and spec talks about a 488 VS, with the 2 letters appearing to be a generic moniker for the Maranello outfit’s Special Editions.
What I have seen is criteria for determining who deserves the 488 VS.
The 1st involves owning a 488 GTB plus another V8 Ferrari.
The 2nd, this includes customers who revel at the thought of ordering Special Editions.
The 3rd is mysterious, as it seems to involve those who do not meet the criteria mentioned above, albeit without mentioning any specific requirement.
The 4th is Ferrari Addicted Plus. This includes collectors who had acquired past Special Editions such as the F12 TDF, the 458 Speciale or iconic heroes like the F40. Added to that the Special must share your collection with a normal Ferrari of note.
The wildcard, is the 1 that will allow the lucky client to move from the “Addicted” to the “Addicted Plus” category.
This involves V8 Special Edition ownership, so whether you have a 360 Challenge Stradale or an F40, you will likely be offered the chance to join the 488 VS club.
As complicated as Ferrari’s criteria are, these at favor brand loyalty over other, more questionable aspects.
Ferrari manages to keep those willing to sell their cars for easy money at bay once the 488 special lands on the market with a very restrictive purchase agreement.
