Ferrari’s (NYSE:RACE) FUV Test ‘Mule’ Spied Out On the Road
Ferrari’s (NYSE:RACE) Purosangue prototype appeared on the road wearing a GTC4Lusso body.
Last month Ferrari gave us some information about its upcoming FUV, that it will have a front-mid engine arrangement driving all 4 wheels, and Ferrari execs do not refer to this new model as an SUV/FUV, it is a thoroughbred, so call it Purosangue, which if you need help with that pronunciation go here.
The official launch of this new Ferrari is some years away, but SupercarsNews on YouTube (above) may have the 1st look at what could be an early test mule.
We do not have any backstory on where this video was taken, but it would appear the driver was not keen to be caught on camera. Unfortunately, it’s too little too late, as the camouflaged crossover comes to a complete stop for a precious few secs before reversing back to the safety of the treeline.
The Big Q: Is this the actual Ferrari SUV Purosangue?
The Big A: I do not think so, as appears to be a GTC4Lusso, which would certainly make some sense as a test mule.
The car already has a similar drivetrain and layout for what I expect to see in the new car from Maranello, however, take a good look at the wheels when the car stops, and also check out the ground clearance as it reverses away from the camera.
The video is not crystal clear, and have tried to tweak the screenshots as best as possible for a better look, but there certainly appears to be quite a bit more elevation off the road than what I would normally expect from the GTC4Lusso.
In any case, development of the Purosangue is in the very early stages, but it is progressing.
I will keep looking for more of this not-an-FUV Prancing Horse, and report soonest.
