Ferrari (NYSE:RACE) ‘Under the Skin’ Exhibit in London
The Life of Enzo Ferrari, creator of the most iconic Italian car brands, will be celebrated during a special exhibition this Fall in London.
The London Design Museum in Kensington High Street, London W8 6AG, will host the Ferrari Exhibition to commemorate the 70th ann of Ferrari (NYSE:RACE), the most celebrated of all Supercars.
Visitors will be treated to an insight into the life of the motor racing driver turned sports car maker Enzo Ferrari, and get to see rare documents, photographs and a selection of prized high performance cars.
The Ferrari Exhibition will go behind the scenes of the brand’s history and offer a glimpse of how Ferraris were designed and created, from the 1st vehicle, the 125S, which took to the test track in Y 1947 to today’s head-turning Supercar road models which sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars and grid-ready racers.
The Exhibit aims to reveal what made The Scuderia’s Prancing Black Stallion logo, the symbol of success, automotive elegance and breath-taking Italian horsepower, the the most coveted motoring marque on the market.
Some of the most famous vehicles Ferrari has designed will be on show including the Enzo, named after the creator, and the Dino, named after his son.
Personal memorabilia and documents from Enzo Ferrari’s life are on display to give an insight to how and why he created Ferrari, and what inspired the company’s phenomenal attention to detail in every element of each car’s design.
The exhibition presents Ferrari’s racing heritage, the ongoing quest for innovation as well as the glamour of its corsa clienti.
Curator Andrew Nahum said: “Ferrari’s story has been one of the great adventures of the Industrial Age.
“It also represents an absorbing case study in design and development.
“Ferrari uses the subtle and often unseen techniques of automobile design but with the utmost care and precision and the exhibition provides an insight into the history and practice of the whole private world of automotive design.”
Ferrari: Under the Skin will run from 15 November 2017 until 15 April 2018.
My personal notes as a fan for 65 years: Enzo Ferrari was passionate about motor racing. It was a pretty bold move to open a car company after WWII in Italy, but then Enzo was a risk taker and a maverick. And it paid off as Ferrari and his small team of dedicated engineers began creating elite cars that won races, alluring the wealthy, powerful and famous the world over. Ferrari has enjoyed an extraordinary celebrity following: Steve McQueen, Miles Davis, Clint Eastwood, James Coburn, James Gardner, Carroll Shelby, Brigitte Bardot and Peter Sellers were all aficionados and me.
