Ferrari (NYSE:RACE) It is Official the 488 Pista is the new Top Spec Supercar
$RACE
Some Ferrari purists expressed some dismay that the new high performance version of the 488 GTB would sport the iconic GTO label. But, not to worry purists, the car will be called the 488 Pista, according to press leaks early Thursday.
And, now it is Official.
Ferrari has published details of what is officially called the 488 Pista. The latest special series car reaches max power at 711 hp and 8,000 rpm from the company’s most powerful V8 ever, with aero and styling work inspired by the company’s F1 and GTE cars. Dry weight comes in at just over 2,820 lbs, and the Ferrari claims the car has a Top Speed of over 211 mph.
Compared to the 488 GTB, this is a new car. The engine is an evolution from the 488 Challenge engine and it’s 10% lighter than the 488 GTB engine.
There is lots of carbon fiber: the front hood, front bumper, rear spoiler and rear bumper are all fully made out of carbon fiber.
Even the 20 in wheels are carbon fiber, they are 40% lighter than the standard wheels on the 488 GTB.
I am not sure how many will be produced, but it is no surprise the demand is like nothing else.
Every Ferrari dealership gets an allocations. The bigger ones will get between 40 and 80 and the smaller ones might get 10.
If you have expressed interest and not heard back from your dealer yet, you will likely not get one.
In January, Ferrari revealed there will be very Tailor Made Pista’s for Ferrari Pilots (Challenge, GT Racing).
