Ferrari NV (NYSE:RACE) Stock Hitting New Highs
This year marks the iconic Italian supercar builders’s 70th anniversary, and I believe it will be another year of record unit sales and revenue. and due to the growth in the world markets particular China I expect the company to break its own unit sales forecast.
This could drive its share price up to 80 or higher.
Now, it looks to me like Y 2017 is set to be a big year for Ferrari, as its 70th anni of operation the company is pushing boundaries with both its cars and its results.
With economies around the world strengthening and the company making inroads into the giant China market, I expect to see unit sales push to a new record high.
The Big Q: Is now the time to invest in the world #1 automobile brand?
Regular readers of the column will recall my calling the stock at 60ish in July of Y 2016, when it was 40/share, I have upped my call to 80 long term.
Since going public Ferrari has surprised many market analysts with its steady growth in unit sales. Ferrari hit 7,255 units in FY 2014, before rising 6% to 7,664 units in FY 2015.
The last FY (fiscal year) saw the trend continue with more records broken. Despite management forecasting 7,900 unit sales in FY 2016, the company posted unit sales of 8,014, an increase of 4.6% on FY 2015.
Although the company generates revenue from other sources, including sponsorship’s, such as with Formula 1, the company’s main source of revenue is from its car sales and spare parts segment.
So, where in the world are the Supercars being sold?
Unit sales | FY 2015 | FY 2016 |
EMEA | 3,351 | 3,610 |
Americas | 2,640 | 2,687 |
Greater China | 610 | 619 |
Rest of APAC | 1,063 | 1,098 |
Total | 7,664 | 8,014 |
Data sourced from company reports
As you can see above, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) makes up the bulk of Ferrari sales, followed by the Americas.
In its 70th year of operation the company has set overall conservative guidance, predicting a 4.8% increase in unit sales to 8,400 vehicles.
Notably, Ferrari’s management has under-promises and over-delivers, therefore I expect to see the actual unit sales beat its FY 2017 guidance.
Especially considering the strong momentum the company is seeing.
