Ferrari 250 GTO Sets World Record Sale at $69.43-M
Vintage and Classic Ferraris are holy grail of collector cars, and the 250GTO’s are the most sought after and revered. The 250GTO is a 174mph road-legal racing car and just 36 built between Ys 1962 and 1964.
For years the Ferrari has been and continues to be the Top of the motoring world
Today, I learned that a Germany based 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO s/n 4153 that won the Tour de France in Y 1964 sold for nearly $70-M, a world record sale.
Ferrari historian, Marcel Massini described the car as one of the Top 4 GTOs in the world, confirmed this car has been bought by an American businessman in a private treaty transaction.
I have been following Ferrari as an owner for over 50 years and am confident a GTO or like era model will be sold for $100-M sooner rather than later.
This GTO was restored in the 1990’s by DK Engineering, Hertfordshire, UK. DK was not involved in the transaction.
Note: The Ferrari 250 GTO is the most sought after car in the world, because of its blend of looks, rarity and performance. Ferrari fitted it with a 3-litre V12 engine which developed more than 300bhp.
I had 1 in 1969 and spit blood to sell it for $11-K.
