FBI Might Easily Have Stopped Florida School Shooter
Michael Reagan declared Tuesday, that the FBI and local authorities bear some responsibility for the deadly high school shooting in Florida last week for their inability to coordinate and/or their lack of interest and capabilities under the law.
In an interview, Mr.Reagan discussed the shooting that resulted in 17 deaths and many injuries at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
“I will tell you, no compromise [on gun control that lawmakers] would find would have stopped what happened last week in Florida,” Mr. Reagan said. “Who let the kids down was not the government. Who let the kids down was the FBI, all the places he was reported to for the kind of person he was.
“Those kids were let down by everybody. They weren’t let down by Trump, they weren’t let down by Cornyn. It’s really unfortunate what happened, but they gotta look at the reality of why did this person, why was he allowed to buy or purchase a weapon? Everybody agrees, he never should have been allowed to do it. So [find] what in the system didn’t work and fix that.”
A 19-year-old boy was arrested and charged with walking into the high school of roughly 3,000 students and opening fire with an AR-15 rifle. His history of mental troubles, run-ins with school officials and police, and his obsession with guns and violence have all come out since the shooting.
“Nothing was done, nothing was put on the record to stop him from in fact purchasing a weapon,” Mr. Reagan said, alluding to the cache of weapons the alleged shooter was able to buy.
Mr. Reagan noted the root of the issue is society is different than what it used to be.
“You could take the guns away, but you are not going to take the anger away,” he said. “We need to find a way to get rid of the anger. We need to find a way to be proud of ourselves, proud of America, proud of this great country again. Every place you turn, it’s always about anger. We need to get rid of that.
“You can take the gun out of our hand, but you need to start putting love in our heart.”
