I learned today, that it is estimated that 129-B face masks are used worldwide each month, which works out to about 3-M masks a min.

The masks are not being recycled, and their materials make them likely to accumulate in the environment and last a long, long time.

For the most part, mine is not, masks made from micronized plastic fibers with a thickness of 1 mm to 10 mm, they will readily release micronized particles into the environment very fast, faster than larger plastic items, like plastic bags.

Microbes from your mouth, known as oral commensals, frequently enter your lungs, where they have been linked to advanced stage lung cancer; wearing a mask can potentially accelerate this process.
