Ferrari’s (NYSE:RACE) lead driver, Sebastian Vettel will have gone a year without a win by the time F1 arrives at Spa in Belgium at the end of this month.
Mr. Vettel is a 4X world champion, last won at Spa-Francorchamps on 26 August last year, this year’s race there is on 1 September.
Mr. Vettel has had a longer winless spell with Ferrari, The Scuderia failed to win a race in Y 2016. However, this year has been particularly disappointing because they looked so fast at Barcelona testing.
Instead of challenging for a 1st title in 11 yrs, Ferrari have yet to win in Y 2019 and go into 2-H of the season risking being overtaken by Red Bull Racing.
Mr. Vettel is 94 points behind MercedesAMGs’ Lewis Hamilton in the Championship and 4th overall.
“The Summer break has probably come at just the right time because I’m well aware of how the pressure can build on Ferrari when things aren’t going well,” said former Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn, now F1’s managing director for motorsport.
“It will not do any harm to take a breather and recharge the batteries,” he added. Mr. Brawn worked with 7X Champion Michael Schumacher at Ferrari.
Mr. Brawn said a win for Ferrari is more important as a morale booster than to press any Championship aspirations at this stage.
The next 2 races are at Spa and Monza, Ferrari’s home circuit with its passionate fans, could see a change of fortunes with the racer better suited aerodynamically to their long, fast straights.
“Spa and Monza might be better for us, but in the end our ambition is to really force things to happen, be in control of the race,” Mr. Vettel said after finishing 3rd in last Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
“Where we are now, we’re quite far away from that.”
Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen has scored more points from his last 2 races than Mr. Vettel in 4 and is now 25 clear of him in the standings.
They know they need to improve through the corners to make the most of their straight line speed. But Mr. Vettel has admitted he has struggled to get on Top of the car.
“It will be a busy break for us. I don’t think anyone’s mind can rest in the two weeks, so maybe we come up with some good ideas for the 2nd half,” Mr. Vettel said.
Enzo Ferrari’s iconic Italian Supercar manufacturer claimed the title according to the latest Brand Finance Global 500 2019 report launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
HeffX-LTN overall technical outlook for RACE is Neutral to Bullish, overhead resistance is at 158.83, and support at 154.44, all Key indicators are flashing Bearish in here. Ferrari finished at 156.59, -0.19 Tuesday in NY.
Ferrari will continue to create value in the long term. Ferrari is a quality 1st long term investment, and I see it at 200/share in that frame.
