F1: Ferrari (NYSE:RACE) Ready to Challenge the Odds This Weekend at COTA
Ferrari’s (NYSE:RACE) F1 Team is ready to “challenge the impossible” with Lewis Hamilton on the brink of a 5th F1 title at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix.
Mr. Hamilton has won 6 of the last 7 races to open up a 67-point advantage over Sebastian Vettel in the drivers’ standings and put himself on the edge of retaining his crown.
If the MercedesAMG driver triumphs in Texas, and Mr. Vettel finishes 3rd or lower, Mr. Hamilton will match Juan Manuel Fangio’s number of titles and stand 2 adrift from drawing even with all-time great Michael Schumacher.
However, The Scuderia’s Chief Maurizio Arrivabene is unwilling give up in the face of MercedesAMG’s topping the standings for drivers and constructors for the 5th straight season.
“I know that the situation looks impossible, but our job sometimes is to challenge the impossible. This is what we’re going to try to do,”F1 Team Chief Arrivabene told the press.
“We win and we lose together.”
Mr. Vettel finished 6th behind team-mate Kimi Raikkonen in Japan last time out and Ferrari needs a much-improved performance to keep the title contest alive until the following Grand Prix in Mexico.
