Dubai World Cup Carnival
Created through the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai World Cup provides a truly global stage upon which the best horses in the world come to compete every year.
The biggest sporting and social occasion on the Dubai calendar, the US$30m race day is held at Meydan Racecourse on the last Saturday in March.
It is the conclusion of the UAE racing season, featuring nine high-class races including six Group 1 and three Group 2 contests. Racing is brought to a close by the the US$10m Dubai World Cup, won in 2016 by California Chrome.
Festivities on Dubai World Cup day end with the spectacular Dubai World Cup show and live music concert. In 2016 international recording artist, Janet Jackson performed a leg of her Unbreakable world tour at the Dubai World Cup.

The Dubai World Cup Carnival, worth more than US$10.9m in prize money across 10 race meetings, runs from January to March every year and is a season of high-class international race days contested by the most high-profile owners, trainers, horses and jockeys in the world. It runs alongside the domestic Racing at Meydan season.
The Dubai World Cup Carnival leads to the season-ending Dubai World Cup day, the richest day of racing in the world.
The major prep for Dubai World Cup day is the $1.8m Super Saturday meeting, held on Saturday March 4. Super Saturday allows trainers to put the finishing touches to their equine stars before appearing on racing’s biggest stage – Dubai World Cup day. As the official dress rehearsal for the Dubai World Cup it is a major social occassion.
Spectators can gain free access to Meydan on a regular racenight or indulge in a range of viewing options to suit any budget and level of luxury from simple seating to five-star all-inclusive dining.
