Dubai World Cup: Baffert Vs Pletcher Vs Team Godolphin
The Dubai World Cup brings together not only the worlds best horses, but also the worlds best trainers. This Year the focus is on the 2 Americans, Bob Baffert and Todd Pletcher, local Team Godolphin trainers field some strong hopes as well. The legend Suroor and relative newby Appleby have some real challangers in this years race.
Baffert should win the race easily with his horse Arrogate and may well fill one of the minor places with the very underrated Hopportunity, he was 3rd in the race last year behind California Chrome.
Baffert has won this race twice in the past and should take home the World Cup again.
Pletcher has had an amazing run lately and his 2 horses filled the placings at the Pegasus Cup, they are likely to do the same here in Dubai.
Neolithic has been improving and I would expect a strong showing from the horse in this race, for me he is the likely second.
Keen Ice has raced here before with no luck, but this is the horse that beat American Pharaoh, on his day Keen Ice is a very good horse.
Charlie Appleby was appointed as a Godolphin trainer in July, 2013 and has had an astounding run of success since then, his runner in this race is Godolphin owned Emotionless, he has the home ground advantage and has won at group level but this race looks a bit beyond him at this stage.
Saeed bin Suroor
Saeed bin Suroor took out his training license in 1993 and the following year was appointed as the trainer for Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin operation. He has been British Champion Trainer on four occasions and is the Dubai Cup King having won the race an impressive 7 times.
Suroor knows how to get a horse ready for this race and this track, his runner in this is a very talented colt named Move Up and he is our number 3 pick for the race.
