The Deep State’s Attack on Family Trump is “Empty”
The Trump Family is “viciously” attacked because they “always support each other,” Eric Trump said Tuesday on Twitter.
This is the EXACT reason they viciously attack our family! They can’t stand that we are extremely close and will ALWAYS support each other. https://twitter.com/nigel_farage/status/884857929920368640 …
“Donald Jr. is pretty much the best public supporter of his father that there is in the business and he’s done nothing wrong at all,” Mr. Farage said. “Certainly nothing wrong compared to some of the things Hillary was accused of in the campaign.”
Donald Trump Jr. has been heavily criticized since the NY-T’s report published Sunday said the President’s son met with a Kremlin-linked lawyer in Y 2016 after she promised him incriminating information on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Donald Trump Jr. released e-Mails Tuesday detailing his conversations with Rob Goldstone, who set up the meeting, and the correspondence said the Russian government backed his father’s Presidential campaign and was trying to damage his opponent.
Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz said on Tuesday that “I don’t see a crime” in Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting last year with a lawyer with ties to the Russian government.
“Even if there was coordination, even if the worst-case scenario as far as we know now is the Russians getting in touch with Trump Jr. and saying: ‘We have some dirt on Hillary Clinton. Come. We’ll give it to you,'” he said in the TV interview.
“And he goes and gets the information.
“That’s what the NY-T’s did in the Pentagon Papers. That is what the W-P did and many other newspapers did with information from Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning.
“You are allowed legally to use material that was obtained illegally, as long as you had nothing to do with the illegal nature of obtaining the information.
“So, at the moment, I see no legal jeopardy for Trump Jr.,” Prof. Dershowitz concluded, “but of course we have to know more facts.
“Simply using the material that you know was obtained illegally is not at the moment regarded as a crime.
“It would be wrong to prosecute somebody for that non-crime.”
