Davos’s WEF Chief: “It’s Important to Listen to the New Wave of Populists”

The head of the Davos economic conference said “it’s important to listen to the populists” and hopes to welcome US President Donald Trump to “hear his ideas.”

Critics of the yearly World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Swiss Alps is a forum for wealthy business and political elite.

But founder Klaus Schwab said in an interview Sunday that this year’s event, which opens Monday, is reaching out to populist politicians who are riding a wave of rising discontent among the masses.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is perhaps the standout among 46 heads of state attending this year, as he is attending for the 1st time..

Mr. Schwab said WEF organizers had to be “realistic” that Trump wouldn’t attend because his inauguration Friday is on the conference’s last day.

Have a terrific weekend.
